|1st Dubai World Hospitality Championship|
|With Emirati culinary culture and friendly hospitality in focus, the first Dubai World Hospitality Championship was held from 16th to 18th November 2013 at the Dubai World Trade Centre and was open to general public with the aim to boost traditional Emirati cuisine and promote local produce.
Under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the Government of Dubai and Za’abeel Palace Hospitality the inaugural three day event featured a program of competitions designed to highlight the cuisine, heritage and culture of the United Arab Emirates.
Visitors to the event witnessed professional and amateur chef’s battling it out as they prepared authentic Emirati Cuisines which showcased the techniques and ingredients behind the taste of UAE.
Twelve countries participated in the International Tournament. The International Competition teams of renowned chefs from different countries prepared a five-course gourmet menu for judges and 54 seated guests. Top chefs from Germany, Russia, Brazil and Canada showed their culinary skills while the second day brought Wales, Hong Kong, South Africa and Slovenia to the competition hall. On the last day Australia, US, Singapore and the UAE where contending for top honours.
Live Cookery Shows by Celebrity Chefs
45-minutes live cookery demonstrations conducted by celebrity chefs served as the highlight of each day’s programme. International chefs including Silvena Rowe, Sanjeev Kapoor, Nermine Hanno, Martha Yanci, Suzanne Hussini, Osama, Tarek Ibrahim, Marco Pierre and Joe Barza demonstrated their favourite recipes.
Chefs Bader Al Awadhi, Musabbeh Al Kaabi and Ali Salem are some of the leading Emirati highlights .
745 UAE Nationals competed in Emirati Competition and displayed their traditional food, bringing out Emirati talent who cook Emirati food — whether they cook at home or in public kitchens. Dubai World Hospitality Championship helped them to refine their talent to bring it to the local scene and in the future to the international scene.
